2021 CraveSports 3G Invitational Shootout

The 2021 CraveSports 3G Shootout is set to happen April 23-24 at South Meridian Church of God’s historic Chan Memorial Community Center Gymnasium.

Tournament officials: Kyle Gerard and James Gray.

Format

Teams are guaranteed three games each. This includes two round-robin games followed by a single-elimination tournament. The round-robin games are drawn at random and will determine seeding for the tournament. The seeding criteria are

  1. Win/Loss Record
  2. Head-to-Head (if applicable)
  3. Margin of victory
  4. Coin Flip

Participation Rules

Team captain is one who is a Christ follower and active in his/her church. The captain declares and agrees that at least 2/3 of their team roster will consist of known Christ followers with the opportunity of outreach to the remaining 1/3.

Eligibility: Players must be at least 18 years of age or older to participate with one exception. Players under the age of 18 may participate if their legal guardian is participating on the same team.

In an attempt to keep this a fun, competitive tournament for recreational athletes, no active or former, professional or NCAA Division 1 athletes are allowed to participate.

Each team is allowed a total of 12 players, coaches, and spectators to be in the building at any one time. Non-players and non-coaches must watch from the balcony area. A complete player roster is due before each team’s first game. This roster cannot be altered after this except in extreme circumstances at the discretion of the tournament officials.

Facilities: Please respect the property and facilities of South Meridian Church of God who graciously allows us to use these facilities to host this tournament. Please clean up after yourself following each game.

Banned Substances: No players, coaches, or spectators should be present showing the effects of alcohol or illegal drugs including but not limited to smoking, vaping, or chewing tobacco

Conduct: Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated by players, coaches. or spectators. This includes the use of profanity and fighting. Such conduct will result in a technical foul if heard or seen by game officials or tournament officials. If the offense is severe the game officials or tournament officials may eject the offending parties. All rules are to be strictly obeyed by players, coaches, spectators, and anyone else present at this event.

CraveSports is a Christian faith based organization. We expect all players, coaches, and fans to have fun and present a Christian witness.  Please come prepared to do just that.

Game Rules

Game Format: Games include two 20 minute halves with a running clock. The clock stops for time-outs. The clock stops on all whistles during the last 2 minutes of the first half and the last 3 minutes of the second half.

Forfeit Rule: Teams must have at least four (4) players ready to play to start a game. If a team is not ready to play at the end of the 10 minute warm-up period that team will forfeit the game without refund. We will not played time-shortened games to accommodate.

Technical Fouls: Any player called for a technical foul is required to sit out the rest of the current game. If a player or coach receives second technical foul at any point during the tournament, that player or coach is then ineligible for the rest of the tournament. Also see conduct statement above.

Free Throw attempts will be played on the shooters release of the ball.

All substitutions must go through the scorekeeper. Do not enter the game until given permission by a referee. Violations may result in a technical foul.

Warm-up: There will be at least 10 minutes between each game.

Timeouts: Each team receives three (3) timeouts (1 minute each) for each game. These are lost if not used during regular time. Each team receives one (1) timeout for an overtime period.

Inbounds Plays: A player may step inbounds with one foot when putting the ball in play all around the court.

Half-Time will be three (3) minutes.

Overtime will be 3 minutes in length with the clock stopping on all whistles. If the score is tied at the end of this period, the second period will be an untimed sudden death period, beginning with a jump ball and ending when either team scores.

Dunking is prohibited. Any player coming into contact with either rim will be assessed a technical foul. If either rim is damaged due to this contact, the player’s team will forfeit the game.
