Championship night consisted of two games. The first was the final of the consolation bracket. The Wisemen took on Faith in what turned out the be a tight contest. In the end the Wisemen came out on top by a meager two points after Isaac Mozingo knocked down two free throws with about 6 seconds left. Faith couldn’t get a shot to go though they were extremely close on a Preston Grant 3-pointer at the buzzer as the ball caromed of on a rebound.
The second game of the night was the main event. It was a bit strange though. The (2) Kings got out to an early lead on the (1) Saints and then decided to slow the game down dramatically. This can often cause problems for the leading team as it can take them out of their usual game rhythms. That was simply not the case here. The Kings were still able to execute their productive offense and knock down open shots. Several spectators expected to see the final team scores in the 80s or 90s but that was not the case. The final score was Kings 61, Saints 50. The game video is available by clicking the video link above.
Well, I think that was a great season. It was certainly good to get back to a more normal existence as the COVID experience has waned. Congratulation to all the teams who participated. Some out-performed expectations and, of course, some under-performed. That’s why we play the games . . . well and because the games are fun to play. We are looking forward to next season. We are hopeful all the teams will return and that we can add more. If you are interested in getting in a few more games, check out the CRAVEsport Annual 2022 3G Tournament happening April 29 and 30.
